What is Thai Elite Visa?

The Thailand Elite Visa is a long-term Thai visa under privilege entry visa program managed by the Thailand Privilege Card Company Limited; a wholly-owned subsidiary under the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.

The purpose of the program is to promote Thailand to affluent and high-earning foreigners through the issuance of a privilege entry visa and offers an opportunity to obtain a long-term multiple entry visa and the right to live in the country for up to 20 years. What are the qualifications for Thai Elite?

  1. Holder of a foreign passport
  2. Being allowed to stay in Thailand in accordance with the immigration laws, which means the applicant has no overstay record in Thailand
  3. No age limit is required for this program apart from the Elite Ultimate Privilege which requires to be at least 20 years old
  4. Not having been sentenced by a judgment to imprisonment in any countries except for an offense committed to negligence
  5. Not having been adjudicated bankrupt
  6. Not having been declared as a person of unsound mind, incompetence, or quasi-incompetence

Are there any restrictions when it comes to nationality in applying for the Thai Elite Visa?

There are some countries that are restricted to apply. Listed below are the said countries:

  • Africa: Central Africa, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome, and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, and Sudan.
  • Middle East: Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen
  • Asia: North Korea, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri-Lanka

How to Get Thai Elite Visa?

  1. Start your Application and Due Diligence Process

    You can start the application for the Thai Elite Visa wherever you may be, whether you are in Thailand or abroad. All you need to do is to send a scanned copy of your passport and application form to an accredited Thai Elite Visa agent. Then, the agent will work with the Thailand Elite Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Bureau to do immigration and criminal background checks. The due diligence process may take 1 month for most nationalities and up to 3 months for special nationalities.

  2. Approval and Payment of Membership Fee

    Once the due diligence process is complete, an approval letter is issued along with instructions on how to remit payment for the Thai Elite Visa cost. The membership fee ranges from 600,000 Thai baht to 2 million Thai baht depending on the membership package the applicant has applied for. The payment for the membership fee can be made through local or international bank transfer or online payment.

  3. Membership Acceptance and Visa Issuance

    After completing the payment or bank transfer, the applicant will receive the Membership ID and instruction on how to receive the visa. The Thailand Elite member can affix the Thai Elite Visa upon arrival in Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport. However, this option is unavailable during the COVID-19 travel restriction.

    During this time of the pandemic, the applicant will be provided a Letter from Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd to apply for the Thai Elite Visa and Certificate of Entry from the local Thai Embassy or consulate to be permitted to travel to Thailand.

    In case that the Thailand Elite member is already staying in Thailand, the Thailand Elite agent may arrange the cancellation of the previous visa and Thai Elite Visa issuance at the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.

The Thai Elite Visa does not require you to have a certain level of income as long as you are able to pay the amount needed in applying for the specific package that you have chosen. And, as long as you have not been declared bankrupt at least once.

Is there any age limit for an applicant to be granted the Thai Elite Visa?

There is no age limit. Except for the Elite Ultimate Privilege, which the applicant is needed to be at least 20 years old.

What are the Documents needed to apply for the Thai Elite Visa?

The applicant must have and submit the following:

  • Completed Thai Elite Visa application form
  • Profile Page of passport Copy
  • ID with white background photo (high-resolution)In case of a family visa, one needs a copy of proof of relationship as immediate family of the core member
How long is the application process?

It will take about 1 to 3 months. It depends on the location of the applicant. Some locations or countries are easy to connect and easy to communicate and some are hard to get through.

What is the minimum passport validity for this Thai Elite Visa application?

The minimum passport validity is at least 5 years. Make sure that your passport has at least 5 years remaining validity period before applying for the Thai Elite Visa.

What happens if I do not have the minimum passport validity?

If the validity duration of your present passport is insufficient or less than five years, the privilege entry visa will be issued in accordance with the passport's expiration date.

Can I apply for the Thai Elite Visa even if I have a tourist visa?

As long as they haven't overstayed, then YES. Anyone on a tourist visa can easily upgrade to a Thailand Elite visa.

Can I apply for a Thai Elite Visa membership if I am holding a work permit?

Because the Thai Elite Visa is classified as a tourist visa, the holder of the Thai work permit is not eligible to apply for a Thai Elite Visa membership. Your Non-Immigrant visa must be canceled before your Thai Elite Visa be validated.

Can I work even though I am a Thai Elite member?

You will need to apply for a non-immigrant work visa, but YES. And this will have no bearing on the Thai Elite Visa’s validity.

If I already am a Thai Elite Member, do I need to do the 90-day report?

YES, you are still required to do the 90-day report. However, there is a special service that enables you to not go to the immigration physically. You can ask for assistance or can get help from the Thailand Elite help center with your 90-day report.

What if I failed to do the 90-day report?

It will be considered as overstaying. As a result, based on your record of overstaying in the country and not reporting on the 90-day report, you may be subject to a ban or suspension for a particular length of time.

If I have a child, does my child need to have a visa to stay with me in Thailand?

Foreigners, in general, needs to have a visa. So, Yes.

Is it possible for someone with a Thai Elite Visa to buy real estate in Thailand?
