We acknowledge that some Thailand Privilege members have encountered challenges when attempting to open bank accounts in Thailand. This is true in certain cases and stems from the evolving regulatory environment and internal policies of financial institutions.
Currently, the Bank of Thailand (BoT) enforces strict compliance requirements for foreigners residing in the country. As such, banks may request additional documentation, depending on both the institution’s internal policies and the individual applicant’s background.
While the majority of TPC members have successfully opened accounts without difficulty, others have experienced delays or rejection due to an inability to meet these documentation requirements. It is important to note that these issues are not directly related to the Thailand Privilege Visa itself, but rather hinge on each applicant’s unique circumstances and the documentation they are able to provide.
To better support the TPC members, we are actively working with partner banks to collect accurate, up-to-date information and develop a clear set of guidelines. This will help ensure that members are better prepared when approaching banks for account opening.
