Even foreigners are allowed to acquire or even switch over from their overseas licence to one. Many foreigners as a result are willing to obtain a driver licence in the country for further convenience. 

One of the perks of being a member of Thailand Privilege is the opportunity to spend privilege points to hire a personal assistant for guidance. All visa holders would need to do is to contact the Thailand Privilege member contact centre to book a reservation for the Elite Personal Liaison (EPL) service and an assistant will be able to help you at the Thai DMV. 

How to get your driver’s licence?

Through applying for the EPL Service, Visa holders will be assisted at the Department of Land & Transportation Chatuchak:

• Timeline: 1 day (if you have a licence from your home country).
• Estimated Cost: 
  • Around 305 THB (for car).
  • Around 205 THB (for motorbike).
• Cost to hire an EPL: 1 privilege point.
• Requirements: passport, visa, proof of address, doctor’s letter (if applicable).
  • The personal assistant will share all the details on what is required depending on your situation. 
  • Those without a previous licence will need to take driving lessons before getting the licence.
