Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) FAQs

Everything you need to know about the new digital entry requirement.

Welcome to our FAQ section for the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). As of May 1, 2025, the TDAC has replaced the old paper TM6 arrival card, streamlining the immigration process for all foreign visitors. Here, we answer your most important questions to ensure a smooth and hassle-free entry into Thailand.

General Questions

  1. What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)?
The TDAC is a new online form that all foreign nationals must complete before entering Thailand. It replaces the traditional paper TM6 arrival/departure card and is designed to make the immigration process faster, more secure, and more efficient.
  1. Is the TDAC mandatory for all travelers?
Yes. As of May 1, 2025, the TDAC is mandatory for all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand, regardless of whether you arrive by air, land, or sea. This includes travelers with a visa, those under the visa exemption scheme, and those with a visa on arrival. Thai nationals returning to Thailand do not need to fill out the TDAC.
  1. Do I need a TDAC if I am just transiting through Thailand?
If you are transiting through a Thai airport and do not pass through immigration to enter the country, you do not need to complete a TDAC. However, if you leave the airport and go through immigration, you must have a TDAC.
  1. Does my child or infant need a TDAC?
Yes, every individual traveler, including infants and children, is required to have a TDAC. You can submit a group application for up to 10 travelers at once.
  1. Does the TDAC replace my visa?
No, the TDAC is not a visa. It is a mandatory entry requirement that you must complete in addition to having a valid visa or being eligible for a visa exemption. You must still ensure you have the appropriate travel documents and meet all other entry requirements.

Application Process

  1. When can I apply for the TDAC?
You can submit your TDAC application up to 72 hours (3 days) before your scheduled arrival date in Thailand. Submitting the form too early may result in it being rejected by the system. The system uses Thailand time, so be mindful of time zones.
  1. How do I apply for the TDAC?
You can apply online through the official government website. Siam Legal offers free TDAC assistance to help you navigate this process and ensure your application is submitted correctly. You can access the official website here: https://tdac.immigration.go.th
  1. What information do I need to complete the TDAC?

You will need to provide:

  • Passport Information: Your full name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, and passport expiration date. (Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.)
  • Travel Information: Your flight number, date of arrival, and purpose of your visit.
  • Accommodation Information: The address of your accommodation in Thailand (e.g., hotel name and address).
  • Contact Information: Your email address and phone number.
  • Health Declaration: Information about your health status and any countries you have visited in the past 14 days.
  1. Is there a fee to submit the TDAC?
No, the TDAC application is completely free of charge on the official government website. Be very careful of third-party websites that ask for a service fee—they are not the official government site.
  1. What happens after I submit my application?
After submitting, you will receive a confirmation with a QR code via email. You should save this on your phone or other device, or print a copy, to present to the immigration officer upon arrival if requested (it is common that Thai immigration officers don’t ask you to present your QR code but be ready just in case).
  1. Can I submit the TDAC for my family or a group?
Yes, the official website allows you to submit a single application for a group of up to 10 travelers.
  1. Can I save my progress and finish later?
Unfortunately, no. The system does not allow you to save your progress. We recommend having all your information ready before you start to complete the submission in one session.
  1. What if I make a mistake on my application?
If you need to correct information, you can submit a new form. The system will only consider your most recent submission as valid.

Upon Arrival

  1. Do I need to print the TDAC confirmation?
You do not need to print it, but it is highly recommended to save a screenshot of the QR code on your phone or device, or print a copy, as a backup in case you have connectivity issues at the airport.
  1. What happens if I don't complete the TDAC before I arrive?
Failure to complete the TDAC will cause delays at the border. You will be required to fill out the form at a kiosk or on a device at the airport before you can be processed by immigration. This can add significant time to your arrival process.
  1. Do I need to submit a new TDAC for every entry into Thailand?
Yes. The TDAC is valid for a single entry and is tied to your expected date of arrival. You must submit a new TDAC every time you enter Thailand, even if you are a long-term resident with a re-entry permit.
