Free Tourist Visa

Generally, all embassies and consulates collect visa fees in order to regulate entries and as for additional revenue. Royal Thai consulates also require payment of these fees. Though the exact fee varies according to the country where the consulate is located, the tourist visa fee usually amounts to 25 US dollars for single entry visa. The visa fee for multiple entries tourist visa is slightly higher.

Free Tourist Visa

Last year, Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affair exempted tourists from paying visa fees from June 25, 2009 until March 4, 2010. This move is motivated by the urge to increase the tourist industry that serves as one of the top industries in the country. Despite the fact that the beauty of Thailand is irresistible to foreigners, this is a good way to surpass the excellent competitors emerging in Asia.

Extended Scheme

Luckily, the Ministry has announced this March 2010 that the Free Tourist Visa Scheme is extended for another year. Meaning, all foreign tourists can enjoy visa free travel to Thailand until March 2011. The passports of visitors can still be stamped with 30 day visa exemption.
