An inter-country Thai adoption is a lengthy process as it involves government departs across different countries. Add to this not only the different time zones, but also any language barriers which may exist. It is always best to seek the assistance of a competent attorney when proceeding with any Thai adoption.

| Documents required for a Thai adoption are as follows: |

Copy of passport or identity card. |
| 2. |
Copy of document certifying marriage or divorce (if any). |
| 3. |
Medical certificate verifying good physical health and mental stability indication of the applicant’s infertility. |
| 4. |
Document certifying occupation and income. |
| 5. |
Document certifying current financial status (dating back not more than six months). |
| 6. |
Document certifying assets. |
| 7. |
Four photos of the applicant and spouse (if any) size 4.5 X 6 centimetres, applicant’s children and the home area. |
| 8. |
Copy of law, regulation or document from relevant authorities of the country of domicile or residence of the applicant certifying the eligibility of the applicant to proceed with a Thai adoption. |
| 9. |
Copy of law, regulation or document from relevant authorities of the country of domicile or residence of the applicant certifying the eligibility of an adopted child to enter into such country. |
| 10. |
Letter of consent for Thai adoption from the applicants spouse or an approval order of the court in lieu of the spouse’s consent (if any) |
| 11. |
Copy of work permit for alien (if any). |
| 12. |
References from at least two persons. |
| 13. |
A home Study Report which should include details of the applicants. |
| 14. |
A statement agreeing to supervise the pre-adoption placement, should the child granted probational placement for a period of at least six months and to forward bi-monthly reports to the Department of Social Development and Welfare. |

Confirmation from competent authorities or concerned authority that after the Thai adoption is finalized under Thai Law, it will also be legalized under the concerned law of the applicant’s country when due. |
| 16. |
Application which the applicant’s have filled out. |
| 17. |
Police/Criminal Clearance from the country of domicile or residence. |
| 18. |
Extract of the applicant’s divorce (if applicable). Documents which are not in the English language must be attached with English or Thai translation and be signed by the authorized translator. All required documents from No.1-18 (original and translation) have to be certified by the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in that particular country. |

Adoption between family relatives or friends and the applicants |
|
The following certifies documents which they have to present to the official at the Child Adoption Centre of Department Social Development and Welfare or the respective Social Development and Welfare office in their home town during a Thai adoption are:

The child to be adopted’s birth certificate, his or her housing registration and the child’s photo. |
| 2. |
The child’s identify card and consent (in case that he or she is over 15 years old). |
| 3. |
Marriage certificate, identify cards, housing registration of the child’s parents or guardian and photos to the child’s or guardian. |
| 4. |
Divorce certificate or court order of the child’s parents (if any). |
| 5. |
Death certificate of the parent (s) of guardian. |
| 6. |
Consent by the child’s parents (to be signed with the presence of authorized official). |
| 7. |
Consent by the child’s father or the letter which the child’s father cannot give the child up or could not be traced is confirmed by the authorized official. |

Child study. |
