Will my fiancee be able to work when she arrives in the United States?
The answer is yes and no. Its a two part answer however. First of all, once she gets into the United States and you get married she can then adjust her status to a legal permanent resident. At that point she will have a green card and she will be allowed to work like any other green card holder in the United States. Another option before she gets married and before you adjust her status she can also apply for a work permit which would allow her to work before her adjustment of status. Finally another question that comes up.
Can my fiancee leave the United States once entering?
The answer is that the K1 visa is not a multiple re-entry visa.If she enters the United States on a K-1 Visa and then leaves without obtaining advance parole, immigration services will consider her visa to have become abandoned. She will no longer be allowed back into the United States unless she goes through the entire process again. What she can do is to obtain advance parole which is a document giving her permission to travel abroad on her K1 visa. |
